Giovanni Almondo Arneis 2023
Arneis Vigne Sparse (from “scattered vineyards”) comes from three tiny parcels on the estate, including the historic Burigot, which the Almondos have farmed for more than a hundred years; the red earth Pe’ del Can; and a few rows on the lower slope of the Bric Valdiana. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured on the lees for five months before bottling. The Almondo family has cultivated vineyards and orchards in Roero for hundreds of years, but Domenico and his father, Giovanni, were the first to estate-bottle their production (their first vintage, in 1981, totaled just 1,500 bottles).

Villa Calcinaia Chianti Classico Gran Selezione “Vigna Bastignano” 2021
Organically farmed. The marl soils of the Bastignano vineyard are planted with original estate Sangiovese clones situated on a series of stone terraces with southeastern exposure. This unique site produces a distinctly soft and elegant style of Sangiovese. The hand harvested grapes undergo fermentation and 18 days of maceration followed by 30 months of aging in Slavonian oak. The wine is released after an additional six months in the bottle. Light aromas of red fruit, coffee, cocoa, toast and vanilla. Medium body, with great balance. An elegant, smooth wine, it is well structured with supple tannins, bright acid, and a long finish. Pairs excellent with lasagna or any hearty pasta with a meaty sauce such as Bolognese. Also pairs well with roasted meats and hard cheeses. 97pts-James Suckling.

Covert "Black Label" 2021
The Black Label Cabernet has Coombsville’s dark, structured aromatics as its cornerstone, blended into the rich and refined style that is Covert’s hallmark. The wine then spends 18-26 months in barrel. There is zero fining or filtration, which minimalizes human intervention with the wine. This helps amplify the voice of the terroir.

Domaine du Pavillon Corton Grand Cru – Clos des Marechaudes 2018
"Clos des Maréchaudes" is a monopoly of Domaine du Pavillon, which is extremely unique in that it boasts 2 levels of appellation, a Grand Cru and a Premier Cru, within the same 5-acre clos (walled vineyard). The grapes in this plot tend to ripen early due to its east-southeast exposure and its location at the foot of the hill, partly on the slope. This is one of the sunniest Climats on the hill of Corton. Tasting This wine's sophisticated nose harmoniously combines notes of red fruit (cherry, raspberry…) with subtle hints of toast and a whisper of vanilla. Fleshy and powerful on the palate, this wine expresses impressive osmosis between the richness and finesse of its terroir, and a dense, velvety tannic structure. Nice volume and remarkable length on the palate.

Aging in oak barrels (40 to 50% new barrels) for 16 to 18 months. TASTING The nose boasts great depth and features notes of red fruit (raspberry, red currant), and flowers (peony, rose, violet...) along with a delicate hint of oak which will evolve over time to more animal and spicy aromas. Chateau Montelena "The Estate" 2010
At a minimum, it takes three years from gently hand-planting each individual vine to the first harvest. However, that initial crop is quite small and it will be another two to three years before the vines really hit their stride. After harvest, fruit destined for the Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon will spend an additional two years in barrel before bottle aging in our cellar prior to release. At best, it’s six solid years of farming, winemaking and cellaring before we can pull that first cork. 2010 "The Estate" is the current library vintage, and drinking beautifully.
