Domaine Chanson Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Hauts Marconnets" 2022
Savigny's white wines are rare, as the vineyard primarily produces red wines. The unique nature of the soil in this "Hauts Marconnets" vineyard, with its high proportion of limestone marl and sand, prompted Chanson to plant the vines with Chardonnay rather than Pinot Noir. The 2.1-hectare vineyard is ideally located at the top of the Savigny hillside, facing east. Pale gold color with floral fragrances and aromas of yellow and white fleshed fruits (apricot). Well balanced and precise. Round and ample on the palate. Very well integrated wood. Long and fresh finish with notes of vanilla. Appetizers, seafood, seared scallops, fish as well as regional cheeses.

Val di Suga “Vigna del Lago” Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Influenced by the northeastern side and the features of the terroir, Vigna del Lago is an elegant, light and sapid Brunello. It exhibits a distinctive, slightly pale, ruby-red colour and notes of ginger, cherry, orange peel, bitter orange and dried flowers. Medium-structured, silky and delicate tannins with a slightly salty finish. Vigna del Lago is located on the northeastern slope of Montalcino, which is influenced by a continental climate, with harsh winters and very hot summers. Ageing takes place in a dedicated cellar, 24 months in 40-hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 6 months in concrete and 9 to 12 months of bottle maturation.

Alcohol: 14.5% Production: 480 Cases. Tasting Notes: An incredibly elegant wine from the estate. In 2020, the vineyard was dry for most of the year and rained somewhat soon before harvest, lessening the intense concentration and adding a bit of softness. The wine was vinified classically, and the oak treatment was quite dialed in after learning from the past vintages. From 2017 until the current vintage, this is the most elegant and expressive of the wines from La Caccia.

Covert Syrah “Massele Selection" 2021 (limited production)
The Massale Selection Syrah is a testament to winemaker’s Julien Fayard’s devotion to excellence. The wine is often considered a collectible wine due to its unique characteristics and limited production. We farm our estate vineyard organically, manually tending the tightly spaced rows throughout the year. "Covert Massale Selection" refers to a specific wine produced by Covert Estate in the Napa Valley, specifically their Syrah wines, which are created using the "Selection Massale" method. This method involves replanting vineyards with cuttings from exceptional old vines, rather than relying on vine clones. The nose offers a heady mix of fragrant dried plums, toasted black peppercorns, dried flowers and wild game. A wave of intense blue fruits and spice washes over the palate with soft, brushed suede tannins and a volcanic minerality beneath. Notes of dried cranberry and pomegranate molasses bring a fresh lift of acidity to the densely fruited core, and carry the wine through a long finish of warm baking spice, blueberry compote, and rich plum.

Kosta Browne “Cerise Vineyard” Pinot Noir Anderson Valley 2020
SIXTY-FIVE MILES NORTH OF OUR winery in Sebastopol, CA, is the critically-acclaimed little-known AVA of Anderson Valley. Over the past quarter-century, this region has emerged as the source for some of California’s most distinctive wines. The Estate property, the Cerise Vineyard, is our focal point for the valley. We’ve been long-time fans of the region and are thrilled to be winegrowers here ourselves. Perched on the hills above Boonville in Mendocino County, these 26 blocks planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cascade over elevations running from 587 to 1620 feet. The warm, sunny days and cool, foggy nights and mornings of the area coupled with unforgiving terrain result in thought-provoking wines that combine a rustic spirit with stunning energy and opulence.

Domaine du Pavillon Corton Grand Cru – Clos des Marechaudes 2018
"Clos des Maréchaudes" is a monopoly of Domaine du Pavillon, which is extremely unique in that it boasts 2 levels of appellation, a Grand Cru and a Premier Cru, within the same 5-acre clos (walled vineyard). The grapes in this plot tend to ripen early due to its east-southeast exposure and its location at the foot of the hill, partly on the slope. This is one of the sunniest Climats on the hill of Corton. Tasting This wine's sophisticated nose harmoniously combines notes of red fruit (cherry, raspberry…) with subtle hints of toast and a whisper of vanilla. Fleshy and powerful on the palate, this wine expresses impressive osmosis between the richness and finesse of its terroir, and a dense, velvety tannic structure. Nice volume and remarkable length on the palate.

VINIFICATION/AGEING Handpicking, grape sorting upon arrival at the winery. Fermenting maceration in thermoregulated wooden vats for 18 to 21 days. Aging in oak barrels (40 to 50% new barrels) for 16 to 18 months. TASTING The nose boasts great depth and features notes of red fruit (raspberry, red currant), and flowers (peony, rose, violet...) along with a delicate hint of oak which will evolve over time to more animal and spicy aromas. Chateau Montelena "The Estate" 2010
At a minimum, it takes three years from gently hand-planting each individual vine to the first harvest. However, that initial crop is quite small and it will be another two to three years before the vines really hit their stride. After harvest, fruit destined for the Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon will spend an additional two years in barrel before bottle aging in our cellar prior to release. At best, it’s six solid years of farming, winemaking and cellaring before we can pull that first cork. 2010 "The Estate" is the current library vintage, and drinking beautifully.
